My First Hackathon in an AI Era: Easy to Build, Hard to Stand Out

For years, joining a hackathon sat on my list of things I wanted to try, but never did. The reason was trivial: though I can code, I'm not an engineer. I could write simple scripts and steadily push forward pet projects, but I couldn't ship a working prototype in hours.
